The line of M 0.8 lenses share similar characteristics such as a 77mm filter thread, an 80mm front diameter, a 36mm full frame image circle, and 0.8 MOD standard cine focus gear rings, making the lenses easily interchangeable in the field.

The 75mm lens has a close focus of 27, a maximum aperture of f/2.0, it weighs only 1.3 lb, and features lens markings in feet. The lenses offer a sharp and focused center with gradual and pleasing falloff of contrast and light toward the edges, leading the view to the image center as well as adding dimensionality to the scene. The compact size of the Leica M 0.8 lenses is made possible by retaining the Leica M-Mount. Each lens has a standardized 80mm front diameter with a 77mm screw-in filter thread. The 0.8 module gear rings allow lens motors and follow focus systems to work seamlessly.

The Leica M 0.8 lenses use the Leica M-Mount to maintain their small size. The Sony VENICE and both ARRI ALEXA Mini and AMIRA cameras can use the M-Mount adapter from Leitz.

RED cameras can use the RED interchangeable Leica M-Mount along with mechanically modified OLPFs available from Leitz.
