Why choose ver iii instead over other version of Summicrons? On film, ver iii Summicron-M shows slightly stronger contrast and saturation - evident by my use w kodak portra (160/400/800) is that colors are richer and details seems a bit sharper than summilux at f2. On digital, (Sony/Nikon/Canon mirrorless) - it really depends on how each camera renders colors and contrast, on Sony it tends to be saturated more with colors, On Nikon- the blacks are deeper and has more latitude, On Canon- it renders light beautifully. Either way Summicrons outputs clinically sharp images from either cameras. Why is it made in Canada instead of Germany?
Because Leitz did move to Canada and setup manufacturing there. As far as build quality and specs, there is no difference between Canada versus German made Summicrons.
