Description -Serial #3459966 -Black finish -Made in 1988 in Wetzlar, Germany -Rare 1st version 1st batch 35mm Summilux-M Aspherical version lens -Two hand-ground aspherical elements -Known as the double aspherical -Highly unusual and unique front/rear concave lens elements, the only Leica lens of its kind to feature this at the time. This lens has become highly collectible and continuing to rise in price. For all the right reasons! The 35mm focal length is the most practical and most use lens.
The 35mm 1.4 is fast and still compact on the M system -This is the first ASPHERICAL 35mm Leica ever made and was unique to this particular 11873 code lens. 2 hand ground element, very difficult to make and subsequently was a small limited production Details -9 elements 5 groups -46° angle of view -Aperture range: f1.4 - f16 -Filter size E46 -Cat No. 11873 Includes -Leica rear lens caps -14013 lens hood square front cap -12587 hood Cosmetics 8.5+/10 -No dings or dents -Barrel is in nice condition overall. Better than in the pictures. The lettering has no fading and usually these lenses show whiting on the focus or aperture barrel. This one is very clean. Also, the usually show wear on the top of the rear element where the focus cam may touch but this one is also very clean. Rich black anodised colour on the barrel and clean overall! Mechanics 9.5+/10 -Focusing is smooth -Aperture clicks are crisp Optics 9/10 -No fog, fungus, separation or scratches -The "bubble or spots" that you see is the inner lens barrel from time is showing. This is cosmetic and has no effect at all. The lens elements and glass are perfect! -The images from this lens are outstanding and a fine optical example. An all time classic Leica lens. Really fabulous and getting harder and harder to find. Especially in such great condition. A great investment but most importantly a pleasure to have and enjoy!
