The serial number of this lens is 261xxxx, and was manufactured in 1973 by Ernst Leitz Canada Limited in Midland, Ontario. The serial numbers on the top and bottom of the box match the serial number on the lens.
The green circles in the photos are digital blurs of the last 4 SN digits. They are not stickers or marks on the actual box or lens. This lens is Version 3 of the Leica M 35mm f2 Summicron 11309, with 6 elements and 10 aperture blades. This very sharp little lens weighs only 6 ounces, or 171.2 grams, and is a classic wide angle for the Leica M cameras.
The minimum focus distance is 2.3 ft or 0.7 m; the angle of view is 64 degrees; the aperture range is from f/2 to f/16; and the Leica M-Bayonet mount ring is chrome with the raised red dot. The front and rear lens glass is clean, with zero scratches.
The aperture and focus rings move smoothly without any problems. The included Leitz Wetzlar Lens Hood 12504 has a few small scratches and specks of missing paint in a few places. The Leica front lens cap has a small ding and a couple of scratches in the metal. The red velvet lining inside the edge of the front lens cap is in good condition.
The Leica M rear lens cap is made of plastic and has scratches but no broken parts.
